UNIGLAS | ECONTROL

UNIGLAS^® | ECONTROL is a highly innovative product, the development of which was supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in the framework of the programme “Energy-Optimised Construction”.

The functioning of UNIGLAS^® | ECONTROL corresponds to that of conventional anti-sun and heat protection glazing. With UNIGLAS^® | ECONTROL, the outer pane of the 2nd or 3rd pane of insulation glass is replaced by an electrochromic pane of laminated safety glass. The special function of the “switchable insulation glass” is achieved in connection with the electronic control unit. A low voltage level of a maximum of 3 Volts is already enough to control the ion exchange in the function layer and thus the light and energy-permeability of the electrochromic pane of laminated safety glass.

The connection voltage is 24 V. Up to 30 units can be connected to a control unit and switched at the same time.

If the electronics is connected to the bus system of the building control system it is even possible to have continuous control of the entire façade.

The electrochromic glass just requires an electric pulse for the settings to be altered. The controlling of UNIGLAS^® | ECONTROL thus consumes extremely little electricity.

At the highest switching level, 5, the solar heat gain coefficient (g-value) sinks to 12 %, making external sun control unnecessary.

UNIGLAS^® | ECONTROL is available in the dimensions 1,200 x 2,200 mm. From the middle of 2010 it will also be available in 1,300 x 3.000 mm, which will make it possible to glaze the entire height of a room.
